If I use high lighting kit on dark auburn dyed hair will it lighten it?
I dyed my hair, turned out far darker than I wanted so now I'm thinking I could put some highlights in it using a bleaching kit.. Does anyone know will this work? I wouldn't leave the mix in for too long, just long enough to lighten tiny strands of my hair to give a multi-tonal sort of effect cos at the moment I am hating the colour!
Honestly, for stuff like that RUN to the hairdresser. I did the same thing (dyed my hair but it came out too dark) so I tried lightening it with a highlighting bleaching kit, and the color on each strand did not match, very unequal and just made a mess cus some parts don't even catch at all ( some dark auburn strands, some orangey, some yellow blondish, some strands were dark at the top, orange at the tips!!) Once your hair has dye in it, coloring or lightening it becomes WAY more difficult, especially trying to produce an even color..
So I ended up further damaging my hair, and causing a mess of different colors and textures in my hair, which in the end costed way more to fix at the hairdressers afterwards.
If your hair is darker than you wanted, a hairdresser can fix the problem and make it look naturally lighter, even, and professional. Its worth the extra cash trust me
